Frequently asked questions

Do you do commissions?

Yes, I do commissions for churches, individuals, schools, etc.

Do you only do religious art?

Yes.

Do you sell prints?

No.

What is "liturgical art?"

Liturgical art refers to art created for use in places of worship and Christian devotion, often churches, Christian schools, or sacred spaces in the home. It is designed to confess and teach the Christian faith and, therefore must reflect doctrinal purity and embody a traditional, godly understanding of beauty.

I want to learn traditional techniques, where do I begin?

I found some good resources on YouTube. Please reach out if you want more information.

Classical art feels "out of fashion." Why not modern art?

Beauty is objective (mostly) and timeless. I believe that beautiful art that confesses Biblical truth is the only kind of art appropriate for sacred use. For this reason I appreciate classical art that future generations will want to keep around and cherish.

Why spend money on fine art and not on something "useful?"

Art is useful to teach the faith and confess the truth of God's Word. On the other hand, God created many things beautiful that are not necessarily useful. Take, for example, most flowers or the color of the sunset. These things are beautiful even if they aren't useful. Also it is true that when you surround yourself with beauty, your soul can delight in it as a reminder and reflection of God's beauty.  Furthermore, art is one of the ways we teach what is beautiful and important.
